| Dr. Bearden is New President of the South Carolina Oncology Society - On January 1, 2006, Dr. Jame Bearden of Spartanburg was installed as President of the South Carolina Oncology Society. Dr. Bearden is a partner with the Palmetto Hematology Oncology group at the Gibbs Cancer Center (SRHS).
At present he serves as Principle Investigator for the Community Clinical Oncology Program, Medical Director of the Gibbs Cancer Center, Chairman of the Cancer Care Committee of Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System, an Elder on the Health Cabinet of the First Presbyterian Church of Spartanburg. Professional societies include the American Society of Clinical Oncology, American Society of Hematology, Fellow of American College of Physicians and South Carolina American Medical Association. Other responsibilities include serving on the Board of Trustees at Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System.
Current credentials include American Board of Internal Medicine Certification, American Board of Medical Oncology Certification and Fellow of American College of Physicians. Community efforts include board of Directors of the Piedmont Blood Bank in Spartanburg, SC. Dr. Bearden has also served as previous President of Spartanburg County Medical Society. Current academic appointments in addition to his clinical responsibilities include Associate Clinical Professor of Medicine at the Medical University of South Carolina and at Wake Forest University Cancer Center.
Dr. James Bearden retired from the USN Medical Corp as a Naval Captain having served greater than 21 years in combined active and reserve duty. He and his wife Ann, have four children; James, Sarah Jane, Clayton and Melissa. Hospital affiliations include Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System, Mary Black Memorial Hospital, Upstate Carolina Medical Center, Wallace Thomson Hospital and Laurens County Hospital. |
